China Trip Update

Hey all, long time no type. Thought I'd put my itinerary down on paper before I forget with all the thesis kerfuffle...

1. fly from Vancouver to Shanghai
2. fly from Shanghai to Chengdu
3. option 1: train to Lhasa, then drive to Everest Base Camp, weather permitting
option 2: bus to Jiu Zhai Gou national park, stay there for 3 days, then back to Chengdu
4. train to Xi'an (whether from Lhasa or Chengdu)
5. day trip to Mt. Huashan, time permitting
6. train to Beijing
7. train to Mt Wudangshan (whoohoo kungfu temple!)
8. train to Mt. Huangshan
9. train down to Hong Kong, stay there a week
10. fly to Malaysia/Cambodia, time and money permitting
11. fly back to Hong Kong, then train/fly to Shanghai, stay there the rest of the time
12. fly back to Vancouver

Am not the biggest tourist for cities, hence all the mountains. Hopefully will accomplish this in 2 months. I have to look into visa extensions, but there seems to be two routes: 1) extend it as a tourist visa for another month or 2) convert it to an F-class visa (business), which seems a bit more shady ^_^;; or 3) apply for an extension (still tourist visa) and apply for another visa in Kuala Lumpur (to go back to Shanghai). This last option might be a bit time-constrained but if there is no other choice, that's the way the cookie crumbles.

hey Ange

Ah excited for you and your trip. Yeah visa stuff can be meh... ended up cutting short my stay in Austria actually. Make sure you can apply for visa extension there.. sometimes you can only do it from your home countries.

Send us email updates! bon voyage!
